For over 75 years, and still now, Ray Bradbury
stands among the ranks of the greatest, most influential
American writers. His fiction has captivated,
entertained, and inspired readers for generations.
Few subjects and genres eluded his interest and involvement,
and his great curiosity and love for life
was mirrored by his prolific output.
This new book, A Ray Bradbury Compendium,
documents Anne Hardin’s thirty-year friendship
with Ray Bradbury, and it emphasizes his early critical
reception in fanzines, pulps, and magazines.
She reproduced editorials and fan letters from the
pulps to show the growth of Ray’s fan base. The
Compendium includes selected photographs and
personal correspondence in which Bradbury describes
the origin of some of his stories. All the
items described are now part of the University of
South Carolina Irvin Department of Rare Books
and Special Collections. Even the cover bicycle,
now completely restored, is part of the collection.
This richly illustrated biographical and bibliographical
resource honors Ray’s friendship, life,
and generosity.
No Bradbury reader should be without it.
